Skin Checks
A skin check is a thorough examination of your skin conducted by our qualified doctors and highly trained nurses to identify any potential signs of skin cancer or other skin conditions. During this assessment, a member of our team will carefully inspect your entire body, using a hand-held dermatoscope, focusing on moles, birthmarks, and any unusual spots. The goal is to detect any changes in your skin that may require further evaluation or treatment.
Regular skin checks are essential for early detection of skin cancer, which significantly increases the chances of successful treatment. Whether you have specific concerns or simply want to ensure your skin health, a skin check is a proactive step in maintaining your overall well-being.
Spot Checks
A spot check is a quick and focused skin examination aimed at assessing specific moles or skin lesions that may be of concern. During this appointment, one of our team members will use a handheld dermatoscope to evaluate the selected area of concern for any changes or irregularities that could indicate skin cancer.
Spot checks are ideal for individuals who have noticed a new or changing mole and want immediate reassurance or further evaluation. It is important to note that a spot check should not replace your regular full body examination.
Excisions
Excisions are surgical procedures used to remove suspicious moles, skin lesions or biopsy confirmed skin cancers. The excised tissue is then sent to a laboratory for further analysis, which provides a diagnosis and confirms the complete removal of skin cancer. Excisions have the highest cure rate among skin cancer treatments and are performed in our on-site theatres under local anaesthetic. Our skilled doctors are able to perform more complex excisions such as skin grafts and flap closures.
